Today’s tube setting tip: the miter cutting vise jig. This tool holds wire, small pieces of sheet up to 11mm wide, and tubing at both 45° and 90° angles so you can file edges flat and flush. Some people use it to cut too. My tube setting tip is this: when you cut portions of tube, like I showed a few days ago with the tube cutting jig, you’ll often end up with a slightly uneven surface where you sawed, unless you’re epically good at sawing. I’m still working on that too. Using the miter cutting vise jig lets you file both sides of your tubing flush and even, which is especially helpful before setting your stone. The bottom you want flush for when you solder, the top you want flush for when you go to set your stone! I also use this jig when I am creating a ring from sheet, before I form it I file each end flat and when I bring them together they are perfectly flush! Do you have other uses?
