Two charcoal blocks = a simple way to get heat underneath your work. 🔥 I’m soldering a thin bezel onto a large back plate with castings — and propping the piece between two charcoal blocks lets me direct heat from below so I’m not risking melting that delicate bezel wire. Charcoal reflects heat back at your work instead of absorbing it, and it’s super affordable. When you have broken charcoal blocks, save those pieces! They work great! There’s always more than one way to approach a technique, which is exactly why I love this community. Have a different setup you swear by? Send it to
