Comment “online classes” and I will DM a link so you can learn from Lucy!! In this video she cuts a seat for a faceted stone from @lucywalkerjewellery
“Since Seat Check spray isn’t available in some countries, Sharpie can be used in a pinch to color inside the setting. Where the stone touches the marker will wear away showing you where you need to cut. Just be patient and make sure to remove any lumps and bumps that cause the stone to rock. The stone might fit, but If you set it while it’s rocking, the risk of breakage is huge. It’s a lot more challenging to set stones other than rounds because we can’t just use a setting but, we have to custom cut the seat to match the stone. As with most things in jewellery making, the final step - in this case setting is the easy part, it’s all about what you do before setting that counts! Cut your seat well and you’re already half way to the perfect setting!” Lucy tends to use a 1.5mm ball bur and then a .5mm bur but it does depend on the size of your stone!! She has an awesome class “Bezel Setting A Princess Cut” which breaks down all of this with humor and amazing video. #jewelrymakingtips #jewelrymakingcommunity #makingjewelry #sponsored #jewelrymakingtip #stonesetting #onlineclasses #jewelryonlineclasses
