Prong setting tips from @kristinabobin - “When you make the shape you want and solder that, you need to make groves for your prongs to fit nicely into your setting. Yes, they have to be fitting, otherwise the heat will move things around, and we don’t want that 😅.
Frist, make your groves with a saw, and then use your file. This way it easier to control your center and not slip when you are going on a piece, with a file (file has something to grab on, basically). And small steps keeps you in a centre and in control.
More fitting your prongs will be to the “stone seat” less messing around at the soldering station. So always take more time, to make sure, you are secured, and happy with those prongs fitting! Heat makes everything move around, so to have a moldable base is extremely helpful too!
Don’t skip a step! I’m reminding that for myself too, haha 😅” YES 👏 such a great video showing the steps, thank you so much for allowing me to share Kristina! #howtomakeprongs #prongsettings #playingwithfire #artiststudio #jewelersbench #parallelpliers #makingaprongsetting #jewelrytutorial
