Here is a stone setting tip from @lucywalkerjewellery - “One question I get asked a lot over at the Metalsmith Academy, how do I set two bezels side by side without ending up with a mushy mess where they meet. Well the easiest way is to have some sort of tiny spacer between. But when you do really want them up close and personal, what I do, is chamfer the bezels, and sand them down to the perfect height before soldering them to a back plate.
When it’s ready for setting, I’ll use a wedge-shaped tool (made from an old beading tool) first of all. I’ll place this between the chamfers where the bezel meets and rock it back and forth slightly to get the bezel partially down and over the stone. Once I’ve gone as far as I can with that, I’ll switch out to a modified hammer handpiece anvil for my Foredom hammer handpiece anvil. I removed about half the thickness of the tip from just one side using a diamond wheel and created a narrow rectangular tip with rounded edges as always. Then being exceptionally careful where my bezels are joined, I set the stone as usual – hopefully you can see how the cut out from my anvil allows it to reach the bezel at the right angle.” Great tips from Lucy ❤️ thanks for letting me share! #stonesetting #hammerhandpiece #settingstones
