Here is are two tips for carving a stone setting from @estherkaojewelry - “In jewelry-making, there are many ways to achieve the same result. Making a bezel setting for a stone is a great example of that. In the past, I used to solder a seat in place. That required fitting two pieces of metal together and then soldering.
But I recently started creating the setting from a single piece of metal, and using ball burs to carve out the seat. It takes a bit of practice, but it’s actually really satisfying.
I had a lot of questions before I attempted this for the first time, so I thought I would share a few of the tips that have helped me most. If you haven’t tried this before, go for it. You might find that you enjoy it just as much as I do!” thank you so much Esther! It is so brilliant to put together those burs you need and clear the rest of your bench! I also love your bracing technique!
