This is why I absolutely love this community, because I am always learning and have folks way more experienced that are able chime in! Thank you Bill Hawkes Reynolds for sharing how this works: “This process causes a galvanic cell reaction between both the silver and the copper…. The net result of which is that copper is etched from the alloy in the form of copper sulphide leaving the alloy porous where the copper has been removed. This in turn weakens the metal and leaves it liable to breakage and increases tarnishing.” I spoke with Kristin from @kaypeajewelry and we both agreed a little update would be good as this post was highly engaged on both our pages. It is always with pleasure when I can learn something new and make a correction. Grateful to our community. If anyone wants to kindly share what has worked for them we would to send folks in the right direction!!
