Here is a tool modification tip for wax working from @emilieshapirojewelry - โIf youโre using an electric wax pen for the build up technique in wax carving, I love modifying my tool to make a really small tip to get into small spaces if youโre attaching two pieces or even building up an area and trying to be really precise. I take about 2 inches or so of 22ga brass wire (copper, or another conductive metal will work too). I like to hammer the end, as I find a flattened edge works better than a sharp one for getting the melted wax off my tool. While your pen is off, wrap the wire around the end of your wax pen, letting that hammered edge extend. When you turn your pen on, the wire will heat up as your pen does. Be sure to take the tip off while your pen is off, but still warm to avoid it getting stuck on the hardened wax.โ Emilie has a new catalogue of online classes for wax carving for jewelry!
