A tip for polishing inside small details from @suethomascreative - “Getting into tiny snooks and crannies, like this silver alpaca nostril! Finest gauge steel wool (0000) wound onto a pointed diamond burr. This finest steel wool on a very thin burr will polish in tiny places but yes some of the material will shed. I thoroughly flush with warm then clean gently using warm water and liquid soap on a soft baby toothbrush.”
This is awesome thank you for sharing Sue! It also gives a nice satin finish which I am a huge fan of!
A note for our beginners, if tiny bits of this steel wool end up in your pickle it can result in steel contamination which can create a reddish copper plating on the surface of your silver!
What is your technique to get into details?!? Send me a video over at tips@metalsmithsociety.com would LOVE to feature you!!
