For this week’s #tooltalktuesday I wanted to show a versatile tool I’ve been using for years to hold my work: The @grstools Multi Purpose Vise for the Benchmate Mounting System. If you’ve already invested in the Benchmate System this vise is such a wonderful addition! I find I use it most often for stonesetting, it’s the perfect surface to use Jettset or Thermoloc on to secure pendants and earrings for setting. I love that is rotates and I often use this motion to my advantage while setting. For those unfamiliar with the Benchmate System the way it works is you secure the Fixed Mounting Plate to your bench and once it is there you can quickly lift on/off your bench pin, the Benchmate and other accessories like this vise! I seriously love the entire system because it allows me to quickly switch between various tasks.The vise jaws are 2.3” wide, 1.6” tall and open to 1.8. You can also use other pins in this vise to help you hold your work, for example in my video I used two leather-faced ring clamp pins.
